Welcome to the website of the Friendly Fire Collective!
This is a special posting from the Friendly Fire Collective, on a field trip to Detroit, MI for the 2010 US Social Forum!
We’re really excited for the coming week to be hanging out with thousands of incredible activists and organizers from around the country. We’re also really excited about a few things we’ve been working on especially for the USSF.

First of all, we are pleased to present a short collection of writings from selected authors on the subject of capitalist crisis and anti-authoritarian response(s). The collection, Cascades: Conversations in Crisis, features original works from Peter Gelderloos, Erik Forman, Isaac Hawkins, and Ian Paul. This is part of ongoing project Friendly Fire is involved in that will soon produce two larger written works by Ian Paul and David Zlutnick around this same theme for the Institute for Anarchist Studies.

2 – Crisis as Pacification by Peter Gelderloos
3 – Economies and Ecologies in Crisis by Isaac Hawkins
4 – A Flowering of Subjectivities: Rethinking Antagonism in the Desert of Crisis by Ian Paul
5 – The New Workerism: Capitalist Crisis, Proletarianization, and the Future of the Left by Erik Forman
Next, the Friendly Fire is organizing and participating in a few workshops and panel discussions over the next few days here in Detroit:
- Popularizing Radical Politics: How We Convey Our Ideas and Ideals (with the Institute for Anarchist Studies) – Antiauthoritarian Praxis in Times of Economic Crisis – Direct Democracy and Autonomy: Collectives, Assemblies, Self-Organization (with the Institute for Anarchist Studies)
All of the above are part of the anti-authoritarian track that is been organized by a grouping of individuals and organizations from around the country called the New World from Below Organizing Collective, with which we are proud to be working. NWFB has done an amazing job incorporating dozens of workshops and panel discussions under this track, as well as setting up an entire convergence space that can function as a hub for anarchists and anti-authoritarians during the USSF and will be hosting awesome events. This is our library, our collection of media we’ve accumulated that we believe holds significant value in the development of broad-based, radical social change. What you’ll find here is a number of articles, video, audio, graphics that will hopefully enhance your knowledge of issues unknown, make you think deeply about the state of our movement(s), develop your ideas surrounding the possibility of another world, and most importantly encourage action!
As you navigate the site you’ll find a good amount of work from others, media that we’ve found along the way that has assisted and motivated us, and that, in general, we feel closely reflects our views. You’ll also find a good body of work that we’ve created ourselves (one that keeps on growing!), from articles to posters, that we very much encourage you to check out. All of this will continue as we further develop this relatively new project. Thanks for checking us out!
Please check back often as we will be updating with new material constantly!
Enjoy the site!
